About Saroir
Why Saroir exists, what it is, how it works, and the step-by-step process from idea to permanent verified credential.
About: Why Saroir?
Infinite Viewpoints. One Foundation.
Saroir is built at the intersection of several interconnected failures in how professional knowledge is created, shared, and recognised. Each failure costs real people real time, real opportunity, and in some cases - real lives.
About: What is Saroir?
The place where knowledge finally stays with the person who earned it.
Expertise disappears every day. Knowledge built over years leaves with the person who built it, and the systems meant to capture it (degrees, job titles, employer records) capture the institution, not the individual.
Saroir is built on a different premise. It is an open source platform where anyone can contribute to real projects, have that work reviewed by verified practitioners, and receive a permanent, cryptographically signed record that belongs entirely to them. Not to Saroir. Not to their employer. To the person who earned it.

How a contribution becomes a credential
How it works
Contribute to real work.
Join projects across any domain. Write code, submit clinical insights, design, research, document. Every contribution is a real deliverable reviewed by people who do the same work. Not a simulation. Not a case study.
Students, mentors, researchers, freelancers, and career changers all contribute on the same platform. The domain is yours to choose. The work is real from day one.
Get verified by practitioners.
Your work is reviewed by verified experts in your exact domain. The community votes to accept. The reviewer's own credentials become part of your record: proof of who validated you, not just that someone did.
AI triages submissions before they reach a human moderator. Domain-weighted voting means a senior practitioner's approval carries more weight. The entire review trail is permanent and signed.
Own it. Permanently.
The record is cryptographically signed, append-only, and independently verifiable by anyone in the world without asking Saroir's permission. No employer can claim it. No platform can revoke it.
Built on W3C Decentralized Identifiers and transparent append-only logs. Your credential is a signed document you own and can present anywhere. It travels with you across every job, every pivot, every decade.
Built for the moment someone figures it out and chooses to pass it on.
The mentor who helped you did not have to. Neither did the one before them. Knowledge shared here belongs to the person who earned it, and to everyone who needed it and finally found it.
About: How the platform works?
How the permanence actually works.
Every standard Saroir is built on is public, documented, and independently verifiable. The tools to check are available to everyone.
Foundation 1
W3C Decentralized Identifiers
You own your identity. No platform can revoke it.
Foundation 2
SHA-256 content hashing
The record cannot be quietly altered. Ever.
W3C Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs)
Self-owned identity not controlled by any platform, employer, or institution.
Read the specW3C Verifiable Credentials (VCs)
Tamper-proof, independently verifiable attribution that cannot be altered after signing.
Read the specGPG / SSH signed commits
Every commit is signed with the contributor's key, proving authorship at the cryptographic level.
Read the specPer-user keypair at onboarding
Generated at account creation. Signs content hash at submission, invisible to the user, permanent in the record.
SHA-256 content hashing
Any change to the content produces a completely different hash. Tampering is mathematically detectable.
Read the specTransparency Log (RFC 6962)
The same standard used in SSL certificate transparency. Deletions are visible, nothing disappears silently.
Read the specLayer-2 blockchain timestamping (OpenTimestamps)
Proof of existence written to a public chain. Survives independently of Saroir's infrastructure.
Read the specMerkle tree structure
Each version references the hash of its parent. The chain of changes is permanent and unbreakable.
Read the specGitHub Apps API / GitLab App
Per-installation rate limits, scoped permissions, and webhook events. Saroir never owns the repo.
Read the specWebhook pipeline on merge
Moderator acceptance fires a webhook. Saroir receives the payload and records attribution without any manual step.
VC payload includes repo URL + commit SHA
The commit hash is included in the contribution VC payload. Independent proof the code existed at that moment, regardless of whether the external repo survives.
Platform-managed commits
Saroir writes structured commits on the contributor's behalf. The user sees a form. Git runs underneath.
JSON Schema
Structured fields per domain. Clinical, legal, research, and creative submissions are reviewable and comparable.
Read the specLightweight checksum + SaaS native version IDs
For Figma, Google Drive, Frame.io and others. Saroir reads the version metadata, it never stores the 2GB file.
Event log pattern
What changed, why it changed, who approved the direction. The intellectual record, not the binary asset.
Pull request review model
Moderator acceptance is a signed event. The reviewer's domain credentials are part of the attribution record.
Contribution-weighted voting
A vote from a practitioner with 50 verified contributions in a subdomain carries more weight than one from a new joiner.
Semantic similarity + graph analysis + velocity detection
Flags duplicate submissions, effort-to-claim mismatches, and Sybil patterns before a human moderator sees them.
Reputation escrow pattern
Every approval links back to the moderator's own record. Patterns of poor moderation are visible and accountable.
Immutable versioning
Old versions are marked superseded, never deleted. The contributor retains full attribution for every stage of their thinking.
Structured archival schema
The idea layer: concept, learnings, failure modes, published permanently and independently of the codebase.
Explicit parent reference
Every revival declares its origin. The attribution chain from original idea to rebuilt product is permanent and auditable.
Archived state pattern
Unanswered questions are not deleted as noise. They are preserved as structured signal about where a domain has gaps.
Cryptographic verification
Any third party can verify credentials using the contributor's public key and the OTS proof. No Saroir server needed.
W3C Verifiable Credentials export
The profile is a signed document the contributor owns and can present to any employer, institution, or platform.
Read the specOAuth-linked git identity
One verified link maps all future commits from that handle automatically to the contributor's Saroir profile.
Read the specRead-only API integration
Figma, Google Drive, and similar tools. Saroir reads metadata as supporting evidence, never stores the content.
LiteLLM proxy
A single interface across OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, Mistral, Cohere, and self-hosted models. Swap providers without changing application logic.
Read the specOrg-scoped encrypted key injection
API keys are stored encrypted at rest, never logged, and injected at request time. Saroir never sees the key value after initial submission.
LiteLLM sidecar deployment
Model traffic never transits Saroir's core application layer. For air-gapped deployments, the proxy runs entirely within the organisation's own infrastructure.
Read the specCost-based and latency-based routing
Lighter models handle spam triage and velocity detection. Stronger models handle semantic similarity scoring and contribution analysis. Routing is configurable per feature.
How it works
From idea to permanent proof.
Every step on Saroir produces a verifiable record. Not a portfolio entry. Not a participation badge. A cryptographically signed credential tied to real work.
01
Propose or join a project
Tell us what you want to build and who it helps. Projects must have a clear social good. Once approved, your project is anchored with a credential before the first line of work is written.
TL;DR
Projects must serve a clear social good to be approved
Your project receives a credential at creation, not just at completion
02
Form a cohort and start contributing
Contributors organise into cohorts around specific goals. Every contribution you submit goes through domain practitioner review before it is accepted.
TL;DR
Cohorts are structured collaborations around specific project goals
Every contribution is reviewed by domain practitioners before acceptance
03
Your work is reviewed and accepted
Accepted contributions are not opinions. They are signed records. A moderator makes the final call. Your contribution is attributed to your cryptographic identity, not your name on a platform.
TL;DR
Domain practitioners review your work. A moderator makes the final call
Attribution follows your cryptographic identity, not your account
04
Your credential is issued
Each accepted contribution generates a W3C Verifiable Credential signed by the platform and timestamped on the Bitcoin blockchain. You own it. You export it. It is independently verifiable by anyone, without contacting Saroir. How verification works →
TL;DR
W3C Verifiable Credential signed and timestamped on Bitcoin
Independently verifiable by anyone, without contacting Saroir
Credentials Created
When a contribution is accepted, Saroir generates a W3C Verifiable Credential signed with the platform key. It records what was built, who reviewed it, and when. It cannot be forged or reassigned.
Credentials Stored
In the contributor's wallet as a portable signed document they own outright. A hash is also written to the Bitcoin blockchain. Saroir shutting down does not erase it.
Credential Verified
By anyone, instantly, without asking Saroir. The credential is checked against the contributor's decentralised identity. It is either cryptographically valid or it is not. No expiry. No intermediary.
05
Your record follows you. Permanently.
Your credential does not live on Saroir's servers. It lives in your wallet. It survives the platform. It survives the institution. No one can take it away.
TL;DR
Your credential survives the platform and the institution
No employer, no platform, no authority can revoke what was legitimately earned
