Contributor Agreement

Before the full legal text, here is what this agreement says in plain language. Both versions are equally binding. If there is a conflict, the full text governs.

This Contributor Agreement is entered into between the Platform and the Contributor.

Your contribution belongs to you. By submitting, you do not transfer ownership to Saroir, the Foundation, or any third party. The platform attributes your contribution permanently to your DID.

By submitting an accepted contribution, you grant a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, store, and include your contribution in aggregated pseudonymous domain signals. This licence does not permit the platform to sell your contribution as a standalone work or claim authorship.

Once accepted and a Verifiable Credential issued, your DID is permanently attached in the cryptographic record. The platform cannot reassign authorship.

By submitting each contribution, you declare that you are the creator or have explicit permission, you are of legal age of majority, you have legal capacity to enter this Agreement, and no other party has a claim that would prevent the licence granted in Section 3.

You declare that your contribution does not contain trade secrets, information subject to non-disclosure agreements, employer-proximate proprietary knowledge, confidential client data, or competitive intelligence belonging to any third party.

At the time of each submission, you are required to confirm the following by an explicit, logged act.

There are two sequential windows between submission and permanent anchoring. Both exist to protect contributors, the platform, and third parties.

The platform is not a legal professional and does not provide legal advice. Acceptance of a contribution does not constitute the platform's legal opinion that it is lawful, non-infringing, or free from third-party claims.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Saroir Knowledge Foundation, its officers, moderators, and contributors from claims arising from your contributions or breach of any declaration in this Agreement.

The total liability of the Foundation to you shall not exceed the total amounts paid by you to the platform in the twelve months preceding the claim. If you have paid nothing, the platform's maximum liability to you is zero.

Organisations registered on the platform's /orgs page may submit cryptographic hashes of information they claim as proprietary trade secrets. The platform compares incoming contributions against registered hashes during automated screening.

Only a cryptographic hash is submitted. The underlying information never reaches Saroir's servers. A hash match results in a contribution hold, not automatic rejection. Organisations that register false or bad-faith claims are solely liable for damages arising from incorrect holds.

The platform maintains structural separation between identity data and contribution data across separate databases. Your contribution record is associated with your DID, not your email address or legal name.

Your email address is used solely to deliver magic link authentication. The platform's email infrastructure is configured to minimise retention beyond the delivery event.

The platform will comply with valid court orders from jurisdictions in which it operates. The structural database separation means the contribution database itself cannot be queried to produce an email address.

Training Use means using your contribution as input data to train, fine-tune, evaluate, align, or red-team an AI Model. It does NOT include retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) or other inference-time grounding that does not modify model weights; that use was already governed by v1.0.

You grant Saroir a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sub-licensable, perpetual right to use your contributions for Training Use, for any AI Model that Saroir operates, hosts, fine-tunes, licenses, or otherwise produces. Saroir may publish, share, or license the resulting models under terms it chooses.

Training Use is pseudonymous. A contribution and its DID, display name, and Mark level may appear in training data. Your email address is never included; it does not exist in our systems after acceptance. Cross-database joins that would attach personal information to a contribution are prohibited at the platform level.

You may withdraw consent for future Training Use at any time from your profile settings. Withdrawal is recorded with a timestamp and applies to all contributions you make after that timestamp. Withdrawal does NOT remove already-trained contributions from existing AI Models; once a model has been trained on a contribution, the contribution cannot be cleanly removed from the model's parameters.

If Saroir publishes a new version of this Agreement, you will see a dashboard pop-up on next sign-in describing the changes. You may accept the new version (and continue using Saroir under the new terms) or decline (and discontinue using Saroir; your earned attribution and any earned revenue remain accessible from account settings). A new version cannot broaden Training Use of contributions made under a previous version.

You may request removal of a contribution from public visibility at any time. The platform will process removal requests within 30 days.

You accept this Agreement by clicking the acceptance confirmation at the point of first contribution submission. Acceptance is logged as a timestamped event associated with your DID. It is the permanent first entry on your DID timeline.

By accepting, you confirm that you have read and understood this Agreement, you accept sole legal responsibility for the content of your contributions, you understand the platform's review process is not a legal review, and you are entering into this Agreement voluntarily.
